We believe that core learning should be in parents control. By partnering with parents to give homeschoolers a chance to work in cooperative groups in a faith based setting, students will be immersed in hands on learning. The STEAM Schoolhouse is not intended to replace your homeschool curriculum, but to enhance and enrich your child’s homeschool experience. Details about pricing can be found in the Quick Facts pdf at the bottom of this page NEW FOR 2024-2025!
There is no homework from the STEAM School house – occasionally activities will be sent home for completion, but they are not required.
Classes will take place in a learning pod on my property. The STEAM Schoolhouse learning classroom is located in a stand alone building that is separate from our residence. We will also take advantage of our property (over 5 acres) to explore nature, garden, care for animals, create art, play, and incorporate science experiments that could otherwise not be enjoyed in a typical classroom. Our goal is to experience the sheer joy of learning in both the indoors and outdoors.
Step 1: Meeting with Parent(s) and/or Student(s)
This meeting (face to face, zoom, or phone) is for interested parents to determine if the program is a fit for their student. Questions will be asked that are both academic and behavior based. Please be as honest as possible. While all classes are elective style, and hands on, the student will not be required to do something that is unrealistic based on current academic levels, or that would make the student uncomfortable. There are no academic minimum level required for the STEAM schoolhouse, all children learn at different paces, and all levels are welcome. The STEAM Schoolhouse is not intended to replace your homeschool curriculum, but to enhance and enrich your child’s homeschool experience. This is a great opportunity for you to see the schoolhouse, parts of the hobby farm, and for us to get to know you and your child(ren) better. You can expect this meeting to include basic introductions, a time to ask questions, interaction with other students and conversations about your interest.
Step 2: Pick Your schedule
Students can come weekly, or pick and choose which topics fit for your student's interest level. Schedule and topics for School Year 2024-2025 will be posted mid-April. Classes will be Fridays.
Step 3: Come, Learn, and HAVE FUN!
Students are required to wear closed toed shoes. Please bring a sack lunch and a water bottle. Snacks are provided, while every effort to keep in line with dietary restrictions/allergies for snacks, please be sure STEAM schoolhouse knows of your students dietary restrictions/allergies.
We accept applications year round and interview families on an on-going basis, having students begin on any Friday, if space is available. EXCEPT for Coding Classes, you may not join Coding Fridays after October 1st, without a meeting with student and parent, as the Coding classes build on one another.
Review our information packet to familiarize yourself with our programs, and make sure to book a tour to our facilities in person.
We look forward to meeting you!
